Mounting Audio CD's

Hey, i have recently been having trouble mounting audio cds. Not just any cds, cds that just have data on them i can mount fine (mount /dev/cdrom) but whenever i put any audio cd in (like a soundtrack) i get this:

bash-2.05b$ mount /dev/cdrom mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/cdrom, or too many mounted file systems

Am i doing something wrong or does my cd drive have a problem (its 3 weeks old) Also, i am using Slackware 9. Thanks for any help

Another thing, i made sure that the cdrom was not already mounted. Also nothing else is mounted (except my harddrive ofcourse)

You dont mount audio cd, just play them.

what exactly were you expecting to happen / see when you mounted it? if you were basically expecting the same as on windows, then all windws explorer does is make a pretend link to each cdda track on the disc, doesn't actually mount the data, as it's impossible

Konqueror has an audio cd browser feature that displays the tracks on an audio cd as if it was mountable, it can also rip to .wav, .mp3 or .ogg, ogg is the best :-)

i have the exact same problem(the error in the first post)and i tried to mount a cd with mp3 files for copying and playing with xmms

i tried the audio cd player and it says disc error
i know this is an old thread but i would appriciate help since no one else seems to help me

if it's not an audio cd then it's presumably a duff disc, can you mount other discs in the drive?

It could also be a duff ide cable, it could be a few things, duff ram modules can cause drive errors too.

it's the exact same error message as the other guy and yes i've tried mounting both audio cd's and mp3 cd's and cd's with only files and even linux packages

and i should mention that when i installed slack i could pick a kernel type and it said some types support scsi and some don't so i think thats whats the problem but i don't know anything about finding modules for the kernel that support scsi,
so if anyone knows where i can find these modules(or how)i would appriciate it.

well this threads CLEARLY states that you can't mount audio cd's, so i kinda hope your joking when you say that....

Ok, I think you need to start a new thread, your info says that your using debian and redhat, but your last post was mostly about slackware kernels, if you've just installed slackware you should ask questions about this in the slackware forum.
You need to be running the correct slack kernel for your hardware, otherwise it won't work properly, put your system specs in your first post along with kernel version you installed. You'll get plenty of good advice from the regulars.
