PrintScreen Shots in linux

how I can get the printscreen shots in linux ?

In windows we get by pressing PrintScreen button and it copy into the clipboard.
How I can get in Linux ?

Gimp can take screenshots, you can use
"import" from the command-line if you have
ImageMagick installed, and probaly 10 other
tools that do the trick ... KDE and Gnome might
have something special with them, but as I don't
use either I wouldn't know ;)
