Reading backup tapes from M$ to Linux

Hello everyone...

I am still trying to find my way around linux as I am slowly migrating from Windows, and I have come across a small problem that I hope someone will be able to help me with.

I have a DLT tape drive that is connected to my home server (was Windows 2000 now FC4). I have some backup tapes that I hold some data that I need to get at. However they were created using the backup tool that come with Win2K and XP (basic but it worked). My question is, is there any way of reading these tapes and then extracting the data from them using FC4??? If so that saves me a lot of time taking machines apart and moving drives.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Late but can help somebody ...

http://gpl.internetconnection.net/ with mtftar. It's a filter to translate MTF/BKF backup streams from aNoTher operating system $$$ , to the TAR archives used by the rest of the
world.

It worked fine for me.
