Font Problem

I am trying to use qvwm and when I startx I always get :

Can't find font '-*-*-medium-r-normal-*-14-*-*-*-*-*-*-*'

I don't understand fonts to much but I think this means that the font is not in the /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/ directory but in the 100dpi I have a file called fonts.dir and it contains:

Code:
2
timR08.pcf.gz -adobe-times-medium-r-normal--11-80-100-100-p-54-iso10646-1
timR10-ISO8859-1.pcf.gz -adobe-times-medium-r-normal--14-100-100-100-p-74-iso8859-1
not sure but I think the "*" means "any" and if that is the case this should work? I have also tried to replace -*-*-medium-r-normal-*-14-*-*-*-*-*-*-* with -adobe-times-medium-r-normal--14-100-100-100-p-74-iso8859-1 but it said it couldn't find this font either.

Please help
