hi there:

just wondering, in Gnome, how would i set a application ()say, the terminal) to automatically start after the login? like the Sticky Notes? where is the set up file/script located?

many thanks

in the gnome menu > desktop > complex (or so) should be something like sessions. put it in there or into your .xsession file in your homedir.

thanks for your reply.

umm, am i missing something here. when i go to main menu, i don't have the "desktop" option. also, i did a "ls -a" in my home directory but no .xsession showed up.

this is in fedora core 2 and i think i got gnome 2.6

cheers

well i'm in 2.4

.xsession is for a general setup of the xserver startup. eg. if X starts up blank you can start command there. schould not be needed in your case.

when you open a filemanager (nautilus) there could be something like "go to". i think "start here" can get you there. iirc it's also called "gnome-control-center". you can start it in an xterm too.
now "advanced" and finally "session". now choose the startprograms tab. (or so... i've austrian layout;-)
