Download the PPPoE program from http://www.roaringpenguin.com/pengui...e_rp-pppoe.php
and when you extract it, just run ./go-gui, and it will install it. And when you want to run it again just use the command tkpppoe. You will understand everything from there.
Have you tried it? If not, then you should. It's only ~300 Kb size.
My modem is Intracom Jetspeed 520. It can be plugged into Lan or Usb.
But that's not the pioint. RoaringPenguin is an adsl configuration and dialing tool. It should work if you use Lan to connect to your modem, because you don't need any drivers for the modem.
Do you have windows installed and if yes, then look to the connection settings in windows. there are allmost every IP adress, DNS server adresses and so on
I had problems configuring my adsl connection too, when i didn't know the adresses.
I repeat, you do not need any modem drivers for PPPoE connection.
I've setup my Speedtouch 330 USB modem, in slackware 10.0 and i can only access the internet as root? anyone got any ideas, how to access it (other than using SU) ?

Hang on a minute here,
I really think you are getting confused, from what I have read so far, it seems that you are trying an adsl connection through your modem, via your eth1 interface. If that is the case, then you shouldn't need any of the PPP, PPPOE modules loaded, but I don't see any module for your NIC.
Most ADSL modems have an inbuilt eeprom which you access via either a web interface, or a control program to allow you to store your login/password info for your ISP in them. Likewise, all of the protocols are handled within the modem, as are the dhcp and dns servers.
Try entering the address of the modem in your webserver to see if you can access the control panel for the modem, i.e. http://192.168.1.1 and setup tje modem first.
It is then simply a matter of setting up your NIC to talk to the modem, again usually via dhcp settings. This is very easy if you run netconfig
I have my NIC driver build into the kernel instead of modules.
I can access the web interface of the modem via web browser, but for some weird reason, I can login with the username and password provided by the manual.

I take it you mean that you CAN'T login. Has your modem got a reset button? if it has and you reset it, it should revert back to factory defaults. Also, what modem is it, and what is the output of
the ifconfig command?
