To install
Acrobat Reader 5.0.9, follow these steps:
- Make sure you have at least 30 MB of available disk space
- Install Reader 5.0.9 by running the INSTALL script
First you have to untar the file:
mingdao@paul:~$ tar -zxvf linux-509.tar.gz
After that you might want to read this file
mingdao@paul:~$ pico ./README
Next you're ready to install
mingdao@paul:~/downloads$ ./INSTALL
(not ./script)
NB: Unless you're logged in as root, issue
mingdao@paul:~/downloads$ su -c "./INSTALL"
Password:
enter your root password
and accept the license agreement, then it will say ->
Enter installation directory for
Acrobat 5.0.9 [/usr/local/Acrobat5]
and hit enter and it will install and you're done.
To launch the app from cli issue
mingdao@paul:~$ /usr/local/Acrobat5/bin/acroread
or put that path in a menu to launch.
