Best text editor poll ->

I just had to start this thread after seeing "Geez, are there ANY decent text editors in Linux?"

I couldn't resist. So, I just thought I would start a poll, that way we can figure out what text editor really is the best text editor in most peoples opinion. Maybe someday when it has enough votes, an admin could "top it". Maybe not though, because that would end the fun of "wars"!

Please vote!

Thank you.

Dang! I voted for kwrite when I ment to vote for kate. Darn!

Don't know how, don't know if I can change "vi" to "vim"... Sorry, I had it set to vim, but I decided it was vi instead (I don't know because I don't use vim).

Some admin out there that can change things, please change my vote (if you can) to kate, and change vi to Vim! Thanks!

(*feels stupid*)

there is no user-independent best text editor....

I grew up with cpm/wordstar (uh, once upon a time...), then msword, vi, openoffice...
it completely depends on what you want to do with. some folks even edit conf files with openoffice, and other folks write love letters with vi.
why not?

the very best text editor ist the editor you are familiar with *smile

You put Notepad up there, but not Textpad!

For Windows my favorite is TextPad, for Linux, good old vim...
