Running mandrake 10 on AN7 XP3200+ Seagate SATA 160 MB.
Booting was really slow.
In /var/log/syslog I found a lot of .
kernel: hdg: no response (status = 0xfe)
I could not figure out what it was thinking about. I have only a dvddrive (hdd)
and a harddisk (hde) so I wondered what this hdg (nothing) should be ...
On the net I found out that this problem could be solved by modifying
the /etc/lilo.conf file so append also contains the following line
hdg=none
(The harddrive ofcourse does not have to be hdg to do that operation)
Boot is still a bit slow - but much faster (about 20 sec)
