Floppy too small for Mandrake 9.2 boot disk?

When I use Drakfloppy to make a boot disk, it tells me there is not enough room on the disk. Tried several floppies, but same result. Is the boot file too big or the disks too small?

The problem is with the boot image size.
I have seen posts which suggested using linux's format utility (I can't seem to remember the name) to format the floppy to 1.7MB instead of 1.44MB. But I have not tried this yet.

Here is another thought in this context:
- the purpose of the boot floppy (in most cases) is only to recover the system rather than use it as THE means of booting your system.
- if you satisfy the above assumption, then you can always use Mandrake CD1 as a rescue CD when your system does not boot.
- hence there isn't a real need for a boot floppy.
- HOWEVER, making a backup of your partition table is more important because this is very specific to YOUR system.

My old Compaq Pressario won't boot off anything but floppy (or possibly PXE) since I replaced the hd. Hence there is a real need (for me).

I just made a network boot disk and didn't have this problem. Judging from the size of the boot images on my DVD, you should not have a problem.

A quick look at PlanetMirror shows all boot disks should be able to fit on a standard floppy
