Urgent

Good Day! I have successfully installed Linux 7.0 and that's as far as I've gotten. As I need my computer for a living, the following questions I needed answered 3 days ago. Help!

A.) The US Robotic modem V.90 "For Linux" didn't come with drivers and Linux doesn't pick it up. Could someone send me these drivers to vvolk@telusplanet.net and I would even pay you for this service! (What director or sub-directory would these go in? Then what do I do?)

B.) I have a Canon BJC-1000 printer but it is not listed in Linux 7.0 (Only BJC-4000 and BJC-610 and these don't work.) How do I connect this printer?

C.) Very, very important software I had for WIN 98 I need to install, if possible, in Linux 7.0. These include Adobe Photoshop 3.0; SONY Picturelite for WIN 98; Studio DV for WIN 98; and Iomega Zip software (Easy Creator) for external Iomega CD writer. Help!!!

D.) I installed Linux 7.0 onto my D: Drive (60 GB). Apparently, LILO was not configured properly and I cannot seem to run my WIN 98 from my C: Drive (2 GB Hard Drive). Only LINUX appears as a starting option. Is there an easy way to configure this so I have the option between the two at the onset?

E.) What is the best Fax you would recommend for Linux 7.0?

Thank you very, very much. I cannot tell you the extreme urgency I am in here.

1. you need to find out if your modem is a winmodem or not.. goto www.linmodems.org to find out if it is, then there might be drivers for it, but winmodems aren't usually supported very well under linux and if they are, are usually harder to get working than a hardware modem or external modem. but you say its for linux... don't quite understand what you mean by this.. did it say it was supported.. then you need to read the modem howto's at www.linuxdoc.org which would get you started in getting it to work, most likely you have drivers if it is supported.. linux is not a plug and play everything works on install type of OS.

2. you need to check hardware compatibilty lists.. see if there are linux drivers out there for this printer..

3. software under windows doesn't run in linux, unless you use a emulator like Wine, vmware or Win4Lin... there are equivalents at times.. like adobe you can substitute with Gimp.. check out www.linuxapps.com or http://sourceforge.net for software in linux to match your needs, but not everything will be exactly what you want or need. and emulators can be harder to setup and working...

4. lilo.. you can usually add windows to your lilo.conf file like this
Code:
image=/dev/hda1
label=windows
read-only
but it can depend on where your windows OS actually lies in your partition setup..

5. fax, you might want to look for, never used a fax software in linux and couldn't recommend a good one.. check out the links above for fax software if that is what your looking for..

Some questions for you now.. what flavor of linux.. you say 7.0 but is it redhat, or mandrake.. ?? before you dove in and installed linux, you sound like you should have researched your hardware and software needs before installing... linux is not like windows and takes more time and configuration in the process of getting everything working..

try kfax for starters.

if you are going to use linux you are going to have to realize that windows software was written for windows which is designed to not work with other software so as to corner the market.

linix/unix software was designed to work on many platforms.
