USB Adapters

Hello, can someone please help?
I have an old Pentium 233 MMX processor, a M/Board and tower with 32Mb of RAM.
I want to use this box as a Firewall for my DSL connection, but the DSL modem is a USB connection and the motherboard does not have USB connections.
Can I add a PCI USB adaptor to do this and will Linux
a) Recongise the adapter
b) let me use the DSL modem thorugh it.

Yes, you can add a PCI or ISA usb card to add support. It depends as to whether or not Linux will pick it up. You can recompile the kernel with the proper support so that it'll use ISA Plug 'n Play or to probe the PCI bus to try and autoallocate resources for the card. If that happens then getting the DSL modem to work (which is probably fairly new?) should be no problem. Just load the appropriate usb modules or download a linux specific driver for the modem.

Thanks for this, I am assuming that PCI would be better than ISA!
