Setting up an NTP server
Hello all!
I am trying to set up my Ubuntu server as an NTP server. Ive installed ntpd as required and then configured the ntp.conf file with a list of servers in the UK to synch to, putting iburst after the first one. I also added these lines at the bottom, of the server list:-
127.127.1.0
fudge 127.127.1.0 stratum 10
I then restarted ntp. After waiting a few minutes I checked the log file and the only synchronisation message I see is:- ntpd[18890]: synchronized to LOCAL(0), stratum 10.
I then input the command ntpq -c lpeer and get the following output:-
remote refid st t when poll reach delay offset jitter

europium.canoni .INIT. 16 u - 1024 0 0.000 0.000 0.000
himalia.dpbnet. .INIT. 16 u - 1024 0 0.000 0.000 0.000

Any idea what I may be doing incorrectly as I read the 'delay', 'offset' and 'jitter' fields should be non-zero...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks in advance!
