I hope that's the reason. I also mounted the root partition on windows using ext2fs for the first time
http://fs-driver.org
The filesystem is still accessable through windows and the ubuntu live-cd.
On boot I get:
Code:
Uncompressing Linux kernel... Ok, booting the kernel.
mount: /dev/hda1 on /conf No such device
Then a couple of "mount: ... no such file or directory"
Code:
Target filesystem doesn't have /sbin/init
And I'm in busybox.
Busybox sais:
Code:
/bin/sh: Can't access tty; job control turned off
I can't figure out busybox, so I boot with a live cd, exchanged xorg.conf with the oldest backup (nv instead of nvidia driver - no fancy stuff).
I boot with the oldest kernel - which hopefully isn't nvidia-patched - I don't know - but then... can that really be a reason not to mount /?
So... what do I do?
In case you're confused with the hda1 and windows - I have them in winchester drives, so both systems are on hda1.
