Thunderbird not fetching mails

Hai,

The thunderbird is asking for password each time before downloading the mails.After giving the password i receives an error message

Sending of password did not succeed:Mail server pop.net4india.com responded:Could not determine server.

I reinstalled the mail client but the problem is not solved yet.Please help me .

The server you gave is refusing connections on the standard pop3 mail port. Mail service is not running or it is firewalled. It has nothing to do with the password. The server admin is probably already aware of the situation but maybe they will be able to refer you to an alternate server you can connect to.

$ telnet pop.net4india.com 25
Trying 202.71.129.38...
telnet: connect to address 202.71.129.38: Connection refused

pop3 is port 110 not port 25.. the server is responding on the pop3 port..

Code:
$ telnet pop.net4india.com 110
+OK POP3 Ready popproxy1.net4india.com 0001e993
user guest
+OK USER guest set, mate
pass password
-ERR Could not determine server
Obviously since I don't have an account I can't login..

Verify your username and password.. maybe give them a phone call..
