proplem with installing a simulator

Hi,
I am fairly new to Linux and I am using Fedora Core 5 at the moment. I was trying to install a MIPS simulator for linux but I couldnt manage it. After I used xmkmf command to create a Makefile from an Imakefile when I
call make I get an error. Altough I can run the program but I guess it doesnt work properly.
The error is something like below:
.
.
.
DSPIM_VERSION="\"`cat ../VERSION`\"" -c -o buttons.o buttons.c
rm -f xspim_sub
gcc -m32 -o xspim_sub -g -L/usr/lib spim-utils.o run.o mem.o inst.o data. o sym-tbl.o y.tab.o lex.yy.o syscall.o display-utils.o string-stream.o xspim.o w indows.o buttons.o -lXaw -lXmu -lXt -lSM -lICE -lXpm -lXp -lXext -lX11 -lm
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lXp
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[1]: *** [xspim_sub] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/oguzhana/Desktop/spim-7.2.1/xspim'
make: *** [xspim] Error 2

I am not sure if it was the right place to ask this I am new to this forum too
Thanks for your care

Hi there and welcome to LQ, hope you like it here.

/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lXp
You're missing libXp. The name of the package including libX11.so.6 seems to be "xorg-x11-deprecated-libs". You may or may not need the includes too, they should be in a package called "name"-dev or devel. Use Yum or your favourite package manager to search the FC5 repo's for the packages.

I only expect members who have been with us for a wee bit longer (say three months or 40 posts) to know where to post. If you find out after posting it's the wrong forum, just ask the forum moderators to move it for you. No problem.

Thanks for your interest,
I found the package named "libXp-1.0.0-2.2.src.rpm"
do you think installing this can solve the problem??
and what should I should I install with yum exactly,
I am not familiar with the FC5 thing you mentioned
Thank you again for your reply
Have a nice day

FC5 means Fedora Core 5

That package can help but the .src. in the file name means it contains the source code, not a precompiled package. Best to try and find another one without that, use Yum to look for it.
