Install From USB Key?

I want to install DSL on a spare machine however I have no CD Burner available. Can I load the 50MB ISO image I have on a USB thumb drive and boot from this? I don't know if I need a specific ISO version to boot from USB or if all ISO of DSL will boot from USB.

I am downloading the image from here and it is the "current" folder.

I think this page will tell you what you need to know. The DSL wiki links to it.

i followed the instruction in dave's link.

i have a 256 mb lexar jumpdrive 2.0 pro my pc is a dell.

i enabled boot on usb in the bios but when i restart with the usb drive i get:
Code:
SYSLINUX 2.00 2002-10-25
and the computer freezes (ctrl-alt-del does nothing. the num-lock, caps-lock led's don't toggle on/off). i eventually hit the power swith after 5 mins

can anyone tell me how to debug this.

thanks

i redid these instructions without
Code:
   mv isolinux.bin syslinux.bin
  mv isolinux.cfg syslinux.cfg
(i think my bios is new enough)
amways, on my desktop i get the dsl splash-screen and it starts to boot with a green progress bar then it goes black and my moniter goes on standby.

on my dell laptop i get the dsl splash-screen i hit enter to boot but all i get is a black screen and the keyboard doesnt respond. none of the boot options seem to work.

any suggestions...

thanks,

The green bar is the hardware detection. There is something causing a conflict, and it is probally your video cards. Post your system specs and mabey omeone can help you more

Code:
Code: Bad EIP value
i should mention that sometimes with boot option 'expert' it drops me into a limeted shell with a list of about 15 usable commands.
