What do you mean "linux for windows"? You can't start LINUX under Windouz, coz they are different operating systems. You can do that using and emulator like Qemu or VMWare.
If you want to see LINUX first and then install (if you like it), go and get Ubuntu Live CD:
Download the .iso image appropriate for your machine: i386, athlon 64 bit, Mac. Burn it on a CD-R or CD-RW, reboot your machine with this CD into the CD-ROM. You see Ubuntu LINUX started with a nice grafical environment (GNOME) in about 2 minutes. It won't install anything on your hard disk, you can actually use it without a hard disk at all All it needs is a CD-ROM, a fairly new processor (1GHz or more) and 256MB RAM (or more).
There's nothing wrong with liking SUSE 10, a lot of people do But when you say a Linux on WinXP, do you mean you're dual booting (able to boot Linux OR Windows) or do you mean your actually booted into Windows and running Linux from there? How did you actually do the installation?
