I have tried all sorts of commands but there is nothing to do.

By backlight do you mean the backlight under the keys on the keyboard?

What exact make and model is your laptop?

Hi,

i3-6100 processor is quite recent and it has Intel HD Graphics 530. Maybe the i915 internal driver from your kernel does not support graphics 530. I had that problem on an old laptop. The intel_backlight doesn't even appear in /sys/...

You could try installing a newer kernel.
