New install Xubuntu 14.04 trying to replace default terminal with Terminator error:Failed to execute default Terminal Emulator
I had everything working with Xubuntu 12.04 but with a new harddrive I installed Xubuntu 14.04. Now I am stuck with a number of default tools I do not like and I want to replace them with Terminator and EOG and Gedit. I have spent a number of days with google and none of the fixes seem to work. Somewhere in the OS defaults there is a config file that keeps defaulting any launcher I create to looking for the "Terminal Emulator" not Terminator so I cannot get programs like Alpine, Htop or Terminator to open from a menu item or a desktop launcher.
With gnome commander I have not been able to set the default editor to be gedit nor the default viewer to be eog (eye of gnome).
Im stuck with Ristretto when I use Gnome-commander and despite setting things in the defaults I get an error trying to display png files. This is the error:
"No default application found for the MIME type image/x-apple-ios-png.
Open the "File types and programs" page in the Control Center to add one"
