I won't be sorry to see it go. I came across this "standard" recently when I found myself googling an odd warning message that I had found on my Debian system -- something like "No LSB modules found". Apparently the way to clear it was to install the lsb-core package. But when I saw the apparently endless stream of dependencies that came with that package, I thought to myself, "No way am I having this on my system! Who needs all this bumf?"

And what kind of universal Linux standard is it anyway that requires an ability to install rpm packages?
