Yes it's an old crappy laptop, but I want a Linux PC and I like my gaming too much to sacrifice my good computer.

There are the specs. I've gotten the boot and root disks to load into memory, but the setup can't detect the install CD. I've tried it with the CD Drive on the external cable and I swapped them out and it still doesn't detect the CD. (the drives seem to be hot swappable)
I could possibly try a network install, but that'll be a big hassle.
I'm using Slackware 9.1 with the bare.i boot disk, the install.1 and install.2 root disks as well as the pcmcia.dsk supplementary root disk for my network adapter.
I'm going to sit down in about 10 minutes and flash the BIOS for the newest version just to have it and I'll see if I can boot straight from the CD (which I couldn't do with the old BIOS)
Thanks in advance.
