Using dial-up with Ubuntu

Hi...a techie type installed Ubuntu (latest rev) and said it wasn't good for dial up. Ive been looking, and even tho dial up stinks, its better than nothing for me out here in the woods. I downloaded gnome-ppp. This should work for a linux friendly serial modem (US Robotics 9637 USB external)which is on the way. Any more advice to get to my ISP in Ubuntu?

Thanx

One good thing about a major distro is that there are web pages about it.

Look at these. They should be exactly what you need. You may have to tell us how you connected in windows later if these don't work.

I have always had good luck under KDE, so you may want to try Kubuntu. Also some ISP's make you use their program to connect to their servers, which is exactly why I left NetZero. Copper works well if your phone line doesn't suck like mine does. ...then you may can find a sattelite or cell phone to do the job.

Who is your ISP by the way?
