Sunray terminal keyboard repeat rate problem

Hi all,

Using Centos 5.7 and SRS 5.2, everything works perfectly except that the keyboard repeat rate is far too slow.

Apart from the default Gnome keyboard repeat settings I've tried the following without any luck:
  • /etc/opt/SUNWut/basedir/lib/utxsun
    Added '-ar1 400 -ar2 100' to XMOREOPTS
  • /etc/gdm/custom.conf
    Added '-ar1 400 -ar2 100' to Xorg command

Interestingly/frustratingly enough, if I use the Gnome System->Preferences->Keyboard preferences to change the setting and immediately hold a key down in a terminal, it works for ~20 characters before slowing down again. So the Gnome settings are working but something is over riding them on next poll.

FWIW, Sunray is a 2FS model.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated,

PJ.

It must be lower than gnome. On a command line, there'll have to be a default keyboard rate. Try booting to multiuser console level and see what it's like there.
<does an elementary google check>

man kbdrate!!

Thanks for the reply but keep in mind these are dumb terminals; there is no console level. Incidentally logging into the server from a 'proper' machine the keyboard rate is fine.

kbdrate was a good find! However doesn't fix the issue.

Dumb terminals - Aaargh!
Can the server set the kbd rate? Otherwise, live with it. There may be some jumper on the board. There'll be an 8 bit cpu in there somewhere (if you're lucky) and a few 74xx if you not. You don't build in much versatility at that level.

If the server can set it, put a kbdrate line for the terminals in /etc/profile.d
