2007.0 to 2007.1?

Hi all,

Although I've scoured the web and found the odd thing that touches on this, I can't find a step by step guide on how to upgrade to 2007.1 from 2007.0 without doing the whole iso download.

It would appear you can just do an upgrade and people talk about using urpmi, but I can only ever find partial explanations. If someone could talk me though it I'd be very grateful.

I did the original install by downloading the free iso if that information is of help.

There's more involved than staying current on updates?

2007.1 is still in rc (release candidate) phase. When the official release comes out (perhaps by the time you read this)

As root do: urpmq --list-media
urpmi.removemedia media-foo or urpmi.removemedia -a (all)
then visit;
http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/

pick the 2007.1 Mandriva version and then follow the steps. be sure to click the steps.
you will then get commands to add to root which will add new urpmi media for you.
you should be able to urpmi update from there.

Is this the so called cooker on the Mandrake mirrors?

I have downloaded the whole cooker but it is greater than 8 gigs, (still loading) is it designed now for a 2 layer dvd?

Not exactly. Cooker is the development version. This close to a release, cooker is pretty close to what the next version will be but the broken stuff will be removed or fixed before the release.
I don't recommend you use cooker because it is unstable.
If you want to try the rc3 version which should be more stable and more easily upgradable to the official release then get the iso files from the mirrors at:

Thanks loaded the spring 586 it is better than the 2007.0 which was in a real mess but the player problem still appears from installation.

Now I'll try the 86x64 version, which I could never get to work on my 64bit laptop. (I loaded the 586 for testing the RC3 on my laptop.)
