SuSe 8.2 gets it right, debian what's up with java-plugin capabilities

modified sources list and retrieved via apt-get install ... j2re1.4 and j2sdk1.4

Pogo.com takes forever and when entering a room doesnt place tables n such. No luck.

SuSe 8.2 gets it right, straight outta the box. Come on militarily-free proprietors, help me out. Point me in the right direction. The blackdown version didnt allow me to bridge the gap on one of my staple gaming sites from windows xp.

again please help cause im still a and definitely and bout to if i dont get straight @^$%^

Here's a really important tip: tell us what version of Debian you are using and the contents of /etc/apt/sources.list. Tell us which version of JAVA SuSE is using too. Is there a bug report already filed at bugs.debian.org? My children have Debian Unstable running on their desktops and use _ALL_ java-enabled websites (mostly games or chat sessions) all the time and have no issues so I know it _can_ work.

1. What does the contents of /etc/debian_version say?
2. What sources are you using in sources.list?

Do this and post it:

Code:
dpkg -l | grep java

Need Help

Googled for "debian java". "debian pogo.com". and etc....

Anyway, if thats your set of java plugins, there is a slight difference in versions at end of list. Please tell me if it works with pogo.com.

If it does, please tell me your way. I've searched by googling and posts on this site. Even posted in others. SuSe has identical versions. It works. Id prefer debian though its harder. But id like to build my own automations based upon my specific configuration and needs. No more no less. However, I have yet to build more than a handful of packages from source and have yet to get pogo working.

Have compiled my own kernel and made transition to 2.6.5 so far. Need help! Trying to make debian my mainstay OS.

Sorry i couldn't waste my bandwith with pogo.com, even though i have a T1 it was consuming my bandwith(network analyser running) which i pay for and i am limited to 2GB by month...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
J2SE v 1.4.2_04 SDK(java.sun.com/j2se)

not the rpm.bin, the bin file
chmod +x file.bin
./file.bin
now you have a directory called j2sdk1.4.2_04
edit your .bash_profile if you use bash, i use tcsh so adapt the code to your needs(ie export instead of setenv , etc...)

some of the things in my profile (.tcshrc)
setenv JAVA_HOME /opt/j2sdk1.4.2_04
setenv JAVAWS_HOME ${JAVA_HOME}/jre/javaws
setenv ANT_HOME /opt/ant

set path = (/usr/local/bin /usr/bin /bin /usr/bin/X11 /usr/games ${JAVA_HOME}/bi
n ${JAVAWS_HOME} ${HOME}/bin ${ANT_HOME}/bin)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
apt-get install gsfonts-x11

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
geekos:~> cd /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/
geekos:/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins> ls
flashplayer.xpt libjavaplugin_oji.so mplayerplug-in.so
libflashplayer.so libnullplugin.so
geekos:/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins> ls -la libjavaplugin_oji.so
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root root 67 2004-04-10 07:02 libjavaplugin_oji.so -> /opt/j2sdk1.4.2_04/jre/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so
geekos:/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins>

i did a ln -s /opt/j2sdk1.4.2_04/jre/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/

Thanx! Got It!

Well didnt want to do all that removing of packages and modifying apt-sources list. Or even changing shells and blah blah blah. However, with the information given by the earlier gentleman/woman for the sources list along with your privacy setting stuff, I began a test by relaxing cookie settings.

Voila! A lil slow at first and sorta ugly fonts like SuSe's but Hey It worked.
Have since changed them and will test later, but I know it works.

Thanx to you and the other replier.
