xmms not playing .pls from internet

I don't understand why xmms is not playing .pls format from the internet.
I am able to play this format from livecd versions of xmms and from xmms on another computer that I have.

when I try to listen to the radio, xmms issues "Input Plugin: no input plugin recognized for this file"

all of my inputs are turned on and I have no idea why this is happening.

You're not as dumb as you feel. There is no help for this specific error anywhere on google. I had the exact same problem. The problem for me was that I use Gentoo and the mp123 plugin has NO meaningful description in telling you what it does. Here was the description for it:

media-plugins/xmms-mpg123
Xmms Plugin: xmms-mpg123

Installed versions:
Slot 0: 1.2.10-r1
Available versions:
Slot 0: 1.2.10, 1.2.10-r1

Properties for version: 1.2.10-r1
Use flags: +ipv6, +ssl, +mmx, +3dnow

License: GPL-2

Thats it. Pretty stupid if you ask me. I have never used a distro that did not have this pluggin installed by default and therefore I had no idea which pluggin would be used for pls files. I see this as a GENTOO problem and not the fault of anyone else. They have great descriptions for most everything, but there are quite a few apps/pluggins/etc that could use some descriptions that actually means something.

If it had not been for your post, I'd be installing ALL of the xmms pluggins right now until the right one was finally installed which on gentoo would take F - O - R - E - V - E - R because it would need to DL and compile every single one of them.

This problem probably only exists for Gentoo, I dont know of any other distro that wouldnt work with pls files out-of-the-box. What distro were you using?
