Ubuntu - No command completed message...

Hello

I recently switched from Fedora 30 to Ubuntu 19.04. While I was using Fedora and when I would give some command in Gnome-Terminal and switch working on other windows, as soon as the command finishes its job in gnome-terminal I would get a popup message stating command execution completed.

I'm not getting that kind of popup message in Ubuntu. Is this normal in Ubuntu? Is there a way I could get that in Ubuntu?

Thanks

Yup, you could use ntfy for that which can be installed via pip. It can send notifications to your phone too.

It's been a while since I've used Fedora, but in no distro and desktop environment/window manager that I've used have I gotten popup messages to the desktop when a terminal command completes. It must be either a Gnome or a Fedora thing (more likely Gnome, as it would most likely be managed by the DE).

If I did get pop up messages to the desktop when a terminal command completed, I would find them as annoying as a Kardashian.

Assuming both distros use gnome-terminal:
Have you tried enabling it? Probably by checking some checkox in some settings dialog...

Thanks, I'll try. Seems good replacement.

The terminal popup is only available in gnome desktop on Redhat/Centos/Fedora I guess. It seems Ubuntu doesn't install full Gnome. A quick check of 'apt install gnome' says 154 new packages have to be installed.

For now, I'll just install ntfy.

Thanks.
