I'm trying to revert back to upstart on 16.04 instead of systemd. I'll not go into all the reasons here, but if you want to know, and to head off "why not just use systemd/" responses, you can check out the thread:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ml#post5599000.
I've done the following (
https://www.maketecheasier.com/re-en...tart-ubuntu/):
Code:
$ apt-get install upstart-sysv
$ update-initramfs -u
$ reboot
Upon reboot, my init scripts worked properly with one big exception. I no longer have the lightdm login screen. My console screen is blank. I've tried `apt-get remove lightdm; apt-get install lightdm`, but that didn't help.
Ideas?
