kernel panic...

what are you trying to do?
install ubuntu 15.04 from a usb stick?

can you boot tails, from a usb stick, without any problems? that would be good news, means there's no hardware problem.

can you get into the grub menu during early boot? iirc, you have to hold down the shift key until you get something like this.
once you get that, try to boot into recovery.
or enter 'e', then add "nomodeset" to the command line.
then you have to report back how that went.

we will also need information about your hardware.
exact model, and graphic card if you can.

No im not trying to upgrade from a usb...

Yeah! Tail boots perfectly fine from a Usb.
Interesting thing happens when I go to recovery operations it shows like two os to boot from. http://imgur.com/HKbS75y

same thing happens when I boot from both recovery options
The 0x00007foo error

and for showing you the specs of my laptop, where can I find that file? also the file for the full terminal thingy before boot. Will that help you?

Thanks for getting back to me so soon!!!

I found the specs of my laptop from an another post of mine...

so this kernel panic happens every time you boot from hard drive, but not with a live usb?
what have you done, when exactly did it start happening?
how long have you been using ubuntu onthis machine, before the error?

the screen in your screenshot is perfectly normal.
press 'e' while in that screen (without the quotes).
should bring you to a command line. move the cursor towards the very end (it goes across several lines, so keep holding down the right arrow all the way til the end) then add 'nomodeset'.
there's a few other things you can try to add and/or remove there, but i'm not so handy with it.
you could post that complete line here, it just might help a little.

from the specs you posted (not really what i was hoping for) and from your screenshots i'd say it's a sony vaio laptop with intel processor, maybe 3 years old. i don't see any particular problem there, but searching "ubuntu kernel panic 0x00007f00" does bring up some results.

god, i'm sorry.
you actually have to append "nomodeset" to the line that starts with linux, after $vt_handoff.

but as i said before, i don't see that that would solve or even help.

my guess is that something went horribly wrong during that update, like battery died or internet connection failed or you accidentally killed the update process...

try nomodeset, by all means, but if you still get a kernel panic and if you've been using it for less than a week and if you don't have any important personal files on it, i guess a reinstall is the simplest and fastest solution.

we are willing to assist with that.

I guess that's the best solution... Good thing I didn't put my backup on yet!!!

Okay I'm redownloading it...

Kinda ironic how I'm using tails to do this... Haha

Do you recommend that I verify the iso image using a hash thingy?

it's good to check checksums to make sure your download hasn't gone wrong.

strangely, ubuntu.com don't provide checksums on their pages, one has to click through to "nearest mirror" from here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/download/alternative-downloads

so, for example:
for http://de.releases.ubuntu.com/15.04/...ktop-amd64.iso
the checksum is the first one in this file
http://de.releases.ubuntu.com/15.04/MD5SUMS

and you check it with
Code:
md5sum ubuntu-15.04-desktop-amd64.iso
on the finished download.

better luck this time!
