Try loading the Generic kernel. It is about 1/3 the size of the huge kernel.

How much ram does that system have? From a google search the system shipped with 256M.

First place to look (if you haven't already) is http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/toshiba.html

It has suggestions in a couple of entries for this model. Though not for Slackware, they might be a good starting point. Some older laptops are challenging to get going but most can be persuaded to eventually.

Have you tried running with the default kernel image, ie just hitting return, passing no parameters?

Always my first option, but I'm no expert.

AFAIK, the generic kernel is not part of the install DVD.

Actually it is on the DVD but boots huge by default for maximum hardware support.

And you'll need an initrd to run the generic kernel. Boot up with the huge, then run /usr/share/mkinitrd/mkinitrd_command_generator.sh, then run the command it gives you to create an initrd. Edit /etc/lilo.conf, run lilo, and hope for the best.
