trouble with usb bluetooth adapter

I have been having a little bit of trouble pairing my phone with my bluetooth adapter. The adapter is functioning and I can hcitool scan my phone but everytime I try to pair the two my phone asks for the password. I enter the default 1234 and my phone tells me it is an invalid password. Any ideas? Thank you.

I'd try setting the pass on the phone to any four digit code then echo the same code into /etc/bluetooth/pin.

I had a similar problem. I think that the bluez-pin/dbus part wasn't working. I got the message

call_passkey_agent(): no agent registered

and others in syslog.

The answer I found was to change the security setting in /etc/bluetooth/hcid.conf from user to auto and it would send the default password. A temporary solution I know, but it got me doing what I wanted.

The problem is fixed. It seems it was a combination of an outdated tutorial and a bug in the Debian bluetooth packages. I am able to pair the devices now. Thank you.
