Hi,
I am trying to install sarge using the net-install cd on a brand new Dell. When I startup with
linux26, the installation program starts fine, but fails to detect my cd (a NEC 3450). The error message I get is "No common cd-rom drive was detected". As one can expect, it doesn't help choosing a cd manually.
When I try the default boot option, with some 2.4 kernel, the cd is detected without any problems. However, I can't continue the install since it can't find the sata hd...
I have tried changing cd/dvd to a NEC 1300 but with the exact same result. Also, I have used both a new build of the debian net-installer from 8th march, as well as the rc2 release but with the same result.
Comp specs:
Dell 8400
NEC 3450 cd/dvdrw
WDC HD 250 sata
i925x motherboard
Any suggestions on how to get the installation program detect my cd is very much apreciated! Other suggestions on how to squeeze debian on the hd is also welcome.
Thanks in advance!
