gkrellm on fluxbox

i've searched for this all around and googled this, i need to have gkrellm start up automatically when i load up fluxbox. i have gdm come up everytime the box comes up, so the echo "gkrellm &" >> .xinitrc didn't work. i've tried messing with the xsession files in /etc/X11 but that doesn't seem to work also. how do i get this up and running so gkrellm starts up automatically when fluxbox loads up.
thanks in advance.

Try putting it in /etc/X11/gdm/Xsession script, somewhere near the top before the WM is executed.

I got torsmo to auto start in fluxbox by putting it in my .xinitrc before the line that executes fluxbox (you'll see something like "exec /usr/local/bin/startfluxbox"). So before that line, I wrote "exec torsmo &". I'm sure the same would work for gkrellm.

At first I had it in a section of ~/.fluxbox/startup, but that wasn't working.

If you're using a more recent version of fluxbox (since 0.9.0, I believe) you can start it by editing/creating the file ~/.fluxbox/apps as follows:

Code:
[startup] {/usr/bin/gkrellm -w}

I get it to work in ~/.fluxbox/startup right before 'exec fluxbox'

I found the Fluxbox FAQ helpful: http://fluxbox.sourceforge.net/docs/en/faq.php
