I have started with C++, and have bought a book on it, "C++ From the Ground up" by Herbert Schildt.
I was wondering, however, if there were any good online (and free?) programming "lessons".
My school does not offer any programming classes, and learning out of the same book can be tiring.
So, what is the best way to teach myself to program.

you must make sure that you apply these 3 things:
1.) NEVER-EVER buy any book by Schildt. they are a crap, in the sense that they are fundamentally flawed in the technical sense (of both C & C++)
2.) also try this:
http://groups.google.com/group/comp.lang.c++
3.) no matter which books you buy for C++, RUN to the market and get "The C++ Programming Langugae" by Bjarne Stroustrup (special edition or 3rd edition, in that order)
