Rosegarden, jack, qjackctl error: "can't connect to server as client"

I am running mandrake 10.1 powerpack+, when I open rosegarden I get an "error starting jack" message, so I double checked the path, which is correct. then I installed "qjackctl" and on opening it and clicking "start" I get an "error connecting to jack as client" message.
Any Ideas?

does anyone have rosegarden running in mdk 10.1?

should I uninstall all the packagas and compile my own? (this is not an issue for me, however rpm's are just easier and less time-consuming....well with the time i've spent on this perhaps not)

what the hell...

interesting, this is the second or third time i've posted a question without getting a reply. are all you mandrake users non-music-makers or just assholes? in my few posts about half have been answers to problems... i've looked and looked for a solution for this problem BEFORE posting this and I REALLY NEED HELP. what ever happened to the community? you would think as this is the only place this issue is listed on the forum someone would take the time to answer it instead of answering the same old issues over and over(all the most recent posts are completely pointless as they refer to issues that have been discussed at length elsewhere)

awaiting a reply

Also available in Suse 10.2

Hello

I too have a problem when trying to launch Jack via qjackctl (triggered by "/usr/bin/qjackctl -s" )

The error message reads

"unix_connect: can't connect to server (unix:/tmp/ksocket-sam/MRW-LinuxBox.MRWHome-1bd9-45d79dca)"

I'm using Suse 10.2

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Mike

deep_inda_jungl,

This is so you know your issue is not being ignored. I do not use rosegarden. I do not use jack. I am running Mandriva 2007.0 and 2007.0 (as separate installations). I think I responded to another of your rant/posts about not getting a reply. If readers of your post do not have an answer for your question, they will not post a response. You are not being ignored. Also, No! We are not the vulgar term you chose to identify us as. If you can not speak with respect, please do not speak at all. I am sending your post to the moderators for review.

Just noticed, the offensive post is three years old. Perhaps it should be removed.
