I would like to see Apophysis, iTunes, and Macromedia Flash ported to Linux. The first program should be easily ported since it has a GPL license...

Flash, and maybe 3ds max would be my pick.
I'd like it if i could run graphically intense games like far cry too.

I would like to see a trillian port. Kopete is meh and Gaim looks out of place in KDE.
Also, I would love to see an RPG Maker 2003 (not XP) port.

I refuse to use crossover office or wine to run things. Cedega if i'm desparate for games, but otherwise, native is better.

I'm in the same boat. Earthlink.........However, I set it up manually for Firefox and T-Bird, none of their bloated software. Question:

Did the ISP itself support Linux? Any hassles setting it up. I'ts been a pain so far.....(and I have 3 external serial modems 2 Zooms and a Diamon 56ePro)

Application I really woud like to see ported is Xnews, for NNTP news reading. It is free from newsguy.com, written by Luu Tran (in Delphi). It seems like a very real possibility to get it for Linux. Some folks are using wine to run it but thats not good enough solution.

The other app is Sony (Sonic Foundary) Sound Forge and Acid. You can make a very good home recording studio with a mixer and these apps and they are the main reason I still use my Windows XP system. I seriously doubt it will ever be ported over.

Hi all,

I work in webdesign and the software i would like to see as native is macromedia software, company that was planning to attack linux market untill ......... Adobe bought macromedia. Isnt adobe affected by powerfull gimp?? Arent they closing all the doors for linux webdesigners?? Macromedia is very important in our market. We really need at least flash an freehand to work on linux.
When i arrive home i play conter-strike. How about steam?? Why is not thar engine on linux? I have UT and native Quake on linux and they are very mutch stable and fast, aswell as nem version of True Combat Elite that has lots of graphical errors.

So, i just want to work and play on linux, for other things like watching movies, listening music, ftp, irc and msn (voice and video mode needed for amsn) i reboot my pc and enter core 4.

I think that companys are ate wrong way or restricted to microsoft imperium otherwise they would be selling for both platforms - Larger market.
Maya 3d for exemple, has a version for linux
And corel?? Are they going to have the present healthy politic of market=???

Lets see

Dont forget,
Eatch day linux brings us more choices.

(((((()))))))

I just want ONE thing
An installer program which can eliminate the time spent on checking dependencies, integerity, etc of a RPM, cant we have a system , like windows where we can have setup like files instead of RPMs. What i think ,if linux has to reach masses it require this basic thing.
I m a PHP programmer , and if i have to shift my base to linux i need some 5-8 softwares to be installed, if i do the present way, i ll spent a complete day.

Most common distros come with a program to automatically check dependencies. There's YaST on SuSE, URPMI on MAndrake and APT on Debian.

There are also binary installers and executable text installers that you just execute in the terminal and it is like a text-based windows installer. Also OpenOffice has a very "windows-like" installer for linux and solaris.
