I'm running mandy 9 (9.1 or 9.2) on some machines and I' dlike to use Windows (really strange, but I'd like to run some games). So I need to have dual-boot system (I'm currently running a w98-w2k machine so I know it works, a bit). But I have no experiences in Linux and Windows combined machines.


Can someone help me installing both Windows(2k) and Linux (mandrake 9.2 powerpack) on one machine (although I'd like to use 2 different partitions).

Partition the drive first. Then install windows2k on the first. Boot into windows and set all the linux partitions as none/ignore? ( I can't rember the setting, its something similar ). Then install linux.

If you wish to access the windows partitions from linux make them fat32 not NTFS. If you want the windows partition to be NTFS, then create another partition that is FAT32 so you can share files between systems.

I prefer to let Grub/LILO have the MBR for booting ( Windows Bootloader is ugly ) and its simpler to set up this way.
