I had the same problem, the reason it's giving you hell over make config is likely because you didn't unzip the tarball over top of the pcmcia-cs package source then make config, and make Build/make Install depending on your needs.
you can get the source at
http://pcmcia-cs.sourceforge.net
Hope that helps.
This is my first time with linux on a laptop, so please help
Kernel is 2.4.26 (with pcmcia support active, but i havent figured out how to add custom drivers to make menuconfig yet.)
Distro is debian sarge.
--Now on to what I'll ask you. If you get past this stage, I'm hoping you can help me out.
I'm using a pcmcia Proxim Orinoco Gold (agere chipset), I've installed the driver along with pcmcia-cs with out more than a couple days hassle. Unfortunately, I'm having the following problem:
-The card is detected, but i think misconfigured.
-The card is not showing in lspci (is this normal?)
-When I run wavemon, only sparse, scattered traffic shows. (even when 10 feet from an AP)
-The card shows as eth1 (or 0 if the power was brought up without a cable in my onboard NIC)
-All indications show that the card is properly installed, but out of range (even when this is obviously not the case)
If anyone has successfully set one of these up, please help with a page or some docs other than the wlan26-readme.
Also, I'm looking to find out how to put my card into promiscuous mode, and i really dont know how to do that, a man page would suffice though I just have no idea where to start looking.
Thanks in advance.
