Need to have 2 'exclude' in inotifywait

This is on a sftp-server, I need to watch a directory recursively and take action when a file is uploaded. I use inotifywait for this.
Problem in short: I need to have 2 exclude-patterns.

A little more explanation:
I want to exclude all files with extension .dl_complete, no problem there's an '--exclude' option that works fine.
Now I also want to exclude everything under one directory ("Utbox"), so I added another '--exclude' which simply did not work.
So, after having spent many many hours trying to figure out how to, I stumbled across this:
Document that only one --exclude flag is supported
Aha, who could have guessed!
So next try was to create a file with path to search and files/direcories to exclude.
That didn't work either.

Any ideas how I can exclude both all files named *.dl_complete AND everything under directory Utbox?
This is on OpenSuse 12.1, but tried in other distro's as well.
