GLIB version ! >= 2.0.0?

to install the messenger program GAIM, i have to have GLIB version 2.0.0 or later. i downloaded and installed version 2.2.0 without any errors (compiled as user, installed as root.... like i always do) but the GAIM compiler still says my GLIB version is not newer than 2.0.0

do you guys know how i can make it see the new version?

Is there a .pc file in /usr/local/lib/pkgconfig? I'm assuming you didn't pass a prefix argument to configure

yes there are 4 .pc files:
glib-2.0.pc
gmodule-2.0.pc
gobject-2.0.pc
gthread-2.0.pc

no i did not pass a prefix argument, i try to keep important things like sources or includes in their default assigned location so that i don't encounter complications when compiling things. i trust the script knows where to put the files by default - it should.
