Gaim won't connect

I can't get gaim to connect. Well, I did once, but haven't been able to since. I've tried every concievable combination of proxy settings in the profile and in gaim prefences. Note I don't actually have a proxy set up, I have been playing around with No proxy, Use environment settings, and Use global settings. Any help would be very much appreciated.

hi,

There could be a problem with "gaim". I've never been able to use default "gaim" of slackware 10.0. I configured a new one from internet.
So you may give it try like that.

regards
