FreshClam on Fedora Core 6
Hi Guys,
I'm trying to setup an SMTP Inbound/Outbound email Antivirus scanner server using ClamAV. I'm a Windows System Admin guy and I'm trying to explore the benefits of using Linux as the email gateway virus scanner. I have MS Exchange setup to send and receive email and I want to place the Linux email scanner in front of the Exchange box so all SMTP traffic has to pass through it and get scanned when it does so.
I know how to setup Exchange to use the Linux box as a SmartHost, but I'm new to Linux. I've chosen to install Fedora Core 6, and this appears to be working fine. I've installed it and got it connected to the Internet OK. According to the list of applications, I have ClamAV installed as part of the Fedora package list. If I run clamscan --version I get the following response:
ClamAV 0.88.7/2314/Sun Dec 10 20:02:13 2006
So I believe that some of the ClamAV application is installed. However, when I try running freshclam to perform an update the sytem cannot find the command.
I'd like some assistance in getting FreshClam working on a regular scheduled update (say every 8 hours), but I guess I need to get it installed somehow first? I'd also like to know how to make ClamAV scan inbound & outbound SMTP traffic from/to my Exchange server?
Please can you help me get this working?
I'm a total Linux noob, so please can I have the answers in the simplest terms for total begginers ;-)
Many thanks in advance!!!
Kind Regards,
Greg.
