Can't change from half-duplex to full-duplex on a gigabit nic


Hi,
I'm trying to change duplex mode on a debian box without success:
Code:
root@k2:~# ethtool eth0

root@k2:~# ethtool -s eth0 speed 1000 duplex full autoneg off
Cannot set new settings: Invalid argument
  not setting speed
  not setting duplex
  not setting autoneg
root@k2:~# mii-tool eth0
eth0: negotiated 1000baseT-HD flow-control, link ok
What can be the problem?

Did you check the man page to verify the parameters?

yes I did.

ethtool -s ethX speed N [duplex half|full] [port tp|aui|bnc|mii] [autoneg on|off] [advertise N] [phyad N]
[xcvr internal|external] [wol p|u|m|b|a|g|s|d...] [sopass xx:yy:zz:aa:bb:cc] [msglvl N]

Your first output of ethtool shows Duplex: Full

miitool is obsolete, right?

you're right timetraveler.
did a little search here, looks like mii-tool is indeed obsolete.
