azureus script won't work

i recently downloaded azureus. the readme says linux users (lycoris 1.4) may simply click on the script named "azureus" / "/azureus" or enter this in the command prompt or konsole. both won't work at my place; once more. why?

Is the script executable?
Code:
chmod +x azureus
And then run it as:
Code:
 ./azuresus

hi and thanks for answering! trying your suggestion i get this as an answer:
Quote:
./azureus: syntax error near unexpected token 'potential_java_dirs=(''
./azureus: ./azureus: line 24: * potential_java_dirs=('ls -1 "[dollarsign]javadir" | sort | tac')'
does this mean i lack java?

i have a try. but the software recommendation says again:
Quote:
System Requirements

# Red Hat 7.3 or

# Red Hat 8.0 or

# Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS 2.1 or

# Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES 2.1 or

# Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS 2.1 or

# SuSE 8.0 or

# TurboLinux 7.0 or

# SLEC 8
so no lycoris. sorry for asking all those question but it's so many things not working at one time, i'm desperate...

trying to execute the java-registration according to their guidelines, nothing happens. running it in the root-konsole results in "permission denied" even though i am the admin. even creating a new folder such as /usr/java results in "permission denied"... this sucks!

jre

Install jre from sun.java.com

by default, the binary installs in /usr/java/j2re<version#>/bin

enter that link in the relevant place (the first line, I think) of /path/tp/azureus/directory/azureus

make sure the java bin is executable and try runnung azureus then
