I've tried installing apollon (the KDE client for giFT) using both slackware packages and the all-in-1 installer , both of which install fine. However, I am unable to connect to OpenFT, Gnutella, or Fasttrack. They just sit there "connecting..." I'm not (to my knowledge) running a firewall, and I know my router is set up correctly because it worked fine in another distro. Any ideas?
I have had the same problem but have no clue as to what to do. I tried a couple other P2P programs as well, like MLDonkey and Gnutella, and they both refused to connect as well. I think Gnutella said that it thought I was behind a firewall, but I'm not and I confirmed this both with a Linux guru and my ISP. BitTorrent and IRC both work fine. What in blazes could be wrong???
Tried these also, no joy Limewire (on the gnutella network) connects perfectly well, so maybe it's related to gift somehow rather than the actual computer settings. Very strange..
