Hi I have tried several versions of linux and like the way it runs but always seem to have problems getting WiFi to work and also problems with printer drivers. can anyone recommend a good version for a beginner.
Hardwareproblems (or hardwaresupport respectively) depend on the kernel, not on the distribution, you can use any distribution as far as the kernel isn't too old.

well often yes, but for example, CentOS on a brand new laptop may well be SOL for the wifi chipset without a lot of messing around.
As for printers, it is best to research them before you buy one. Many will not work with Linux. I have had good success with HP printers though. If you gave us the brand/model in question we could help better.
