What's Next?

Thanks to many members in this forum, i've so far managed to upgrade the kernel, install ndiswrapper to get the wireless card working, and installed some applications...

Am now quite settled into Linux, generally doing web browsing with firefox, using openoffice, IM with GAIM, and even some programming with eclipse.

Any suggestions on what i can do or learn or experiment on next? (though it will be limited by the fact tat i'm running a PIII 700 processor... :P)

you could always try your hand at the endlessly-time-consuming hobby of theme making and eye candy tweaking. backgrounds, karamba, gkrellm, gdesklets, etc., etc. (better to do this before you get into all that eye-poking business

)

Think i'll probbably try to set up samba as well as a firewall... Linux From Scratch looks interesting though...

But what's the joke about poking your eyes?

The poking of the eyes can sometimes be a more pleasant experience than doing some of the aforementioned things. Hell, I can't even get mozplugger, Dancer, or linuxdc++ to work.

Exactly. I sometimes get involved in trying to get something to work in Linux and after days of googling and frustration, I think it would be easier to just poke myself in the eye with a sharp stick.

My problem is usually with simply comprehending some of the stuff I read when trying to accomplish whatever the task is.
