I run Mandrake 10.0 KDE on my Laptop. After extracting Azuereus (Sry if i mispell), I read the readme... It said it required:
Azureus requires Sun Java 1.4.x or newer to run.
JRE 1.5 (5.0 series) is highly recommended. http://java.sun.com
So i went to the site and got different ones to dl... I dloaded:
self-extracting file (j2re-1_4_2_08-linux-i586.bin, 13.72 MB
So i saved into my Programs Folder and what now? What am i suppose to do?...
If you go back to the page you downloaded from there are instructions there for installing by command line. (Sorry, I'd give you a direct link, but the site isn't resolving for me at the moment.)
So if java 1.5 is recommended why did you download 1.4. I have seen quite a few posts here where people have had problems running Azureus with java 1.4.
Just curious where am I suppose to move the java files to? I tried /usr/lib but it didn't work when I tried to install Azureus. It said it couldn't find it... Help would be appreciated... Oh yeah... Should I install JRE 5.0 or am I suppose to install something else?

Download the rpm version of jdk 1.5 from the sun website. Install that and then post back for more help.
I got it all done from reading the instructions on their website (pretty detailed)
basically i moved the .rpm.bin to /usr/java, extracted it, ran the binary file, went through the disclaimer etc. and then checked it had unpacked it all there and it had, then i unpacked azureus and tested it by cd'ing to the directory and ./azureus it worked fine.
as for getting java working in your web browser that's a different set of instuctions (you have to click the "section 2: configuring" part i think) but basically it involves creating a link from java directy to your browser install directory (which is a pain in firefox cause it makes a new one everytime you update.
Anyway i'd suggest going back to where you downloaded the JRE file and click the button that says instructions, follow them step by step, they are quite good i found
After installing everything I could start asureus but after some time I got the following message.......
"If you have a router/firewall, please check that you have prot 6881 UDP open. Decentralised tracking requires this."
Depends on your firewall software and router. You should check the Azureus WIKI on port forwarding for general information on this.
If you haven't changed anything already then you're probably getting very bad download speeds as Bittorrent relies on sharing - effectively the more you upload to others the more then send to you. There are websites around you can use for port testing in general - grc.com for example.
Can't provide you more information on the Mandrake setup for your firewall though.
