Synaptic: source repositores are marked, but i do not find this source
Hello,
I use synaptic to install many things used in my Debian. Mostly, no problems, I use it since several years ago. I have the game cgoban installed, and I want to play with its source. But it does not appear in the search results. Why?
The "-src" ones are marked, but I do not see (at least) the source code for cgoban in the search results. What is the problem?
Eventual question: this computer has no CD/DVD thing, and never had, since I own it. Can I remove those 2 "cdrom:" URI safely from the repository list?
So, the version installed here has a bug in the configure.in script to cross compile it. Fine, but i want that source. That bug is unimportant for me. Can i download the source with synaptic now, or not? If not, what is the procedure to follow? I prefer to find the source as compiled for Debian, which i installed, instead of the upstream source, which may differ in some important details, sometimes.
I never downloaded source with Synaptic, is it possible?
Well, the source "things" are there. Why would they be, if not for eventually downloading sources? And I have a vague memory of seeing source packages also being shown in its results. But I am not sure where this happened. My linux computer life is most the first Ubuntu, a few of its successors, and then Debian, and almost always using Gnome or Gnome based window managers (Mate Desktop, actually, since Gnome 3 was created).

Try this command:
Code:
apt source cgoban
Does it work or give any error messages?
It works! And it applies the diff too! And two other things i do not understand what they are:
I will download sources with 'apt' only, from now on. Why nobody told me this before? I played with sources many times, but without applying the diffs in the package website (i checked, and they were irrelevant for what i wanted).
I got the source, but this thread is about synaptic, it will remain unsolved, for now. Ok?
